1) CHOOSE THE RIGHT SIZE BEFORE YOU ORDER

Getting the size right is the single best way to avoid a return:

- Housing diameter: 2.5 inch (slim) or 4.5 inch (Big Blue) - which does your housing use?

- Length and diameter: does the cartridge fit your installation space?

- Micron rating: 1 / 5 / 10 / 20 / 50 / 75 / 270 / 400 micron and more (other accuracies made to order) - which accuracy do you need?

- Working pressure: within your system's rated range?

2) GOOD TO KNOW - NORMAL CHARACTERISTICS (NOT DEFECTS)

A few things are simply how a woven, welded mesh filter is built:

- Weld points on the body: our elements are made by welding, so small weld points form during production. These are controlled weld joints - a normal, quality-checked part of manufacturing - not rust. Slight dark color (heat tinting) near welds is also normal.

- Bright ring of light at the end caps: held to a light, a bright ring shows where the mesh meets the solid end cap. It is a structural transition, not a gap - sealing is done by the O-ring and housing compression, so water will not bypass the filter.

- Light and water pass through the mesh body: that is exactly how mesh filtration works - water flows through while particles larger than the rated size are caught on the surface.

3) GENUINE SUS 304 - AND HOW TO VERIFY IT

Certified SUS 304 (equivalent to ASTM 304 / 18-8). 316L is available on request.

- Slight magnetism is normal: after cold working (threading, pressing, bending, welding), 304 - and even higher-grade 316 - can become slightly magnetic. This is well documented and does not mean a lower grade.

- A magnet test cannot verify grade: it cannot tell genuine 304, genuine 316, and lower steel apart. Home chemical tests (vinegar, salt, bleach) are not recognized by any ASTM or ISO standard either.

- Valid methods: XRF or OES spectral analysis (ASTM E1588). We provide a mill test certificate free of charge and are glad to help you arrange independent testing.

- Please note: this is a woven mesh element, not a sintered metal filter, so bubble-point or light tests used for sintered media do not apply here. The correct functional test is to install it with its O-ring and run it at rated pressure.

4) PORE SIZE CANNOT BE JUDGED BY EYE

Micron ratings are far smaller than the eye can resolve (about 100 micron), so pore size cannot be judged by looking. For reference:

Note: the mesh count is the governing specification; the micron figure is approximate (≈) and for reference only, as there is no universal mesh-to-micron formula. The final rating is defined by mesh number. Lab verification follows ASTM E128.

5) DESIGNED FOR WATER - KNOW THE LIMITS

- Optimized for: municipal tap-water pre-filtration, industrial process water, irrigation, and cooling water.

- Other fluids - please ask first: oils (vegetable / cooking / hydraulic), fuels, chemical solvents, beverages, and fluids above 80C / 176F.

This is a mechanical particle filter only. It does NOT change TDS, hardness, chlorine, or heavy metals, does NOT remove bacteria or viruses, and is NOT ultrafiltration / nanofiltration / reverse osmosis. It captures suspended solids, sediment, rust, and coarse particles.
